How to travel with animals on a plane?
We have collected useful tips on how to travel with animals on a plane.
Animals can be transported in the aircraft cabin only with the prior permission of the airline. Most airlines only allow cats and dogs to be transported. It is allowed to transport an animal in the passenger cabin, but on the condition that its weight, together with the cage, does not exceed 8 kg. Larger animals are placed in a special cage in the cargo compartment.
Animals are allowed to be transported:
LOT, Turkish Airlines, airBaltic, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Air France, Air Malta, American Airlines, Corendon Airlines, Cyprus Airways, EgyptAir, FlyOne, KLM, Lufthansa, Aegean Airlines and others.
Animals are not allowed to be transported:
EasyJet, Jet2, RyanAir, WizzAir. Almost all the lowlands.
❗️ Important points:
➡ You must book and pay for a pet ticket in advance, at least 48 hours in advance.
➡ All airlines have a limited number of slots for animals both in the cabin and in luggage.
➡ Check-in for a flight with pets is possible only at the airport at the check-in desk, even if a seat has been purchased in advance.
➡ An animal can be transported only by an adult passenger. You cannot issue an animal for a child.
➡ Transporting an animal does not take away the right to hand luggage and luggage. You can carry hand luggage, luggage and a carrier with an animal at the same time.
➡ In some cases, airlines allow only cargo transportation. Cargo is not baggage, in cargo the pet flies separately as unaccompanied cargo, most often on a special cargo plane.
➡ Special attention should be paid to brachycephalic breeds - these are breeds of animals (cats and dogs) that have genetically determined breathing problems. Pugs, bulldogs, Pekingese, British cats, Persians, etc. They are often not accepted for transportation even by those airlines that allow the transportation of animals.
➡ During the entire flight, the animal must be in the container, it is forbidden to pick it up.
